250+ Profitable Blog Niche Ideas for New Bloggers (2024)
Have you been looking for an extensive list of blog niche ideas that you can take some inspiration from? You’re in the right place!
Below, you’ll find a categorized list with over 250 niche ideas so that you can start blogging in no time.
There’s a lot of debate around finding a niche as a new blogger.
Some will tell you to follow your passion, others will say you should go where the money is… It can be exhausting, especially if you’re taking your first steps in the online business world.
Do you want to know my take on it? Striking a balance between the two might be your best bet.
If you’re not passionate about your blog’s topic or know nothing about it, you’ll eventually quit.
Likewise, if your blog doesn’t make enough money to sustain itself, you might not see a reason to carry on long-term.
This post contains affiliate links, and I may earn a commission (at no extra cost to you) if you make a purchase after clicking one of those. I only recommend resources I use and love! Read my full disclosure.
When it’s time to choose the perfect blog niche for your next venture, take a moment to consider your long-term goals and interest in the topic you choose.
Also, do your research:
- find successful blogs in the niches you are most interested in,
- try to understand how those blogs make money, and
- do keyword research to find potential blog topics and sub-topic ideas and learn more about that niche’s competitiveness.
It’s important to find a niche that you can grow over time and for which you can write plenty of articles for months or (preferably) years into the future.
After listing over 250 profitable blog niche ideas that you can consider, I’ll point you to a great case study I’ve found, and give you some additional tips that will help you decide on one niche to kick-start your blogging journey.
Let’s do it!
What is a Blog Niche and Why You Need One
A blog’s niche is the main topic that is discussed on that blog.
Put simply, it is your one-phrase answer to the first question you’ll get when you tell someone that you’re a blogger: “What do you write about?”.
You may, of course, blog about different topics and still have a successful blog. However, especially if you’re a solo blogger, having a specific focus can help your blog stand out and grow faster. Choosing a niche makes building trust and establishing your authority online easier.
That being said, the niche you choose can be as wide or narrow as you want.
For example, if you blog about food—a broad niche—you can narrow your blog’s focus by picking a sub-niche.
Some examples of narrowed food niche blogs are:
- vegan food,
- cupcake recipes,
- quick meal prep for busy families,
- etc.
While some bloggers and content creators start by producing content around the things they love or sharing their life experiences, choosing a particular topic is often a better strategy for those who intend to monetize.
Usually, the more narrow a niche is, the easier it will be for you to set yourself apart as a new blogger, grow an audience, and be seen as an expert in your field.
That’s why many will advise you to start narrow and, if necessary, pivot and evolve later.
250+ Blog Niche Ideas to explore in 2024 and beyond:
As a new blogger, you might be wondering what the most popular niches are.
Perhaps you’ve already had a great idea, but you want to make sure that you can earn some income from your niche blog…
Let me tell you a secret: the types of blogs that make money are those that offer the most value! The best blogging niches are those that the blog’s authors know best and can create helpful content about.
There are several different ways to monetize a blog, and we’ll cover a few options at the end of the article.
But before we begin, I want to point out that if you intend to make money blogging, you need to pick a topic that works for you!
I could never be a fashion blogger, for example. Even if I knew this was the most profitable niche, I would never pick it. So, in my opinion, the most important thing to consider as you go through the list below is that your personal experience and expertise play a major role in whether you’ll be able to build a successful blog.

What niches are the most profitable?
It is a common misconception that only bloggers who blog about tech or digital marketing can make money online. That couldn’t be further from the truth!
This is actually one of the hardest blogging niches to enter because there’s A LOT of competition.
The thing is that bloggers who blog about these topics are often the ones who share their financial wins the most. That’s because it’s usually in their favor for others to start their own online business venture.
According to a study conducted by the pro blogger and podcast host Brandon K. Gaille for RankIQ, the most profitable blogging niches in recent years were:
- Food
- Personal Finance
- Lifestyle/Mommy
- Travel
Brandon Gaille is one of the most respected people in the field. He is constantly putting out helpful blogging advice and has conducted several case studies worth checking out.
Some of Brandon’s key findings in this specific study were:
- Food bloggers tend to have the highest median monthly income out of the major blogging niches;
- The most competitive niches (food blogs, lifestyle blogs, and travel niche blogs) are also the ones listed as the most profitable niches and the ones with the highest number of monthly sessions;
- 72% of bloggers earning over 2K a month from their blog use some of the ad management companies we’ll look at below. In general, bloggers make the majority of their income from the monetization strategies we’ll also review in this post.
For more information on the study, read RankIQ’s full blog post, here: The Most Profitable Blog Niches.
Do you really need to Narrow Down?
Narrowing down your blog’s content will make it easier for readers and search engines to understand your website. It can help you rank faster for your chosen keywords and boost your earning potential from the start.
However, you want to pick a niche that you can write about regularly (and frequently) for years down the line.
If you get too specific, it might be challenging for you to come up with new topic ideas and find keywords with a high traffic potential.
For example, “Nicolas Sparks’ reviews” is a restrictive niche. You may love his books, but you can only write so many posts about them… am I right?
Instead, you’d probably be better off starting a book blog about “Romantic Fiction”, for which you could review thousands of books from hundreds of authors.
To sum up, narrowing down helps! But you have to be tactical about not going too far.
How to Start a Niche Blog
So you’ve gone through these 250+ profitable blog niche ideas and are ready to build your own niche blog… now what?
Well, now it’s time to head to the computer and take action!
Once you find your niche and decide what you’re going to blog about, you’ll start by working on your blogging business plan and setting up your tech.
Don’t worry, it’s actually not that difficult, and you can easily do it yourself.
Choose a blog name
First, you need a name for the new blog. I’d recommend not going too narrow when choosing a name, in case you want to pivot later.
Personal brands are on the rise, so if you can’t pick a brand name, your best bet might be to use your own. Yes, even if you aren’t a celebrity!
Using your name as your blog’s name will allow you to pivot unlimited times if needed. Plus, it can help you build a community of readers who know, like, and trust you.
While it’s important to focus on a specific topic in the beginning, once you establish a certain level of influence and gain authority in the digital space, you can explore various topics and evaluate what works best.
If you’re wondering, the only reason I didn’t use my own name on this blog or my business site, is because it was already taken!
Register a domain and purchase a hosting plan
Once you’ve named your blog, you’ll want to register that as a domain name (that’s your blog’s URL – for example, bloggingshethrives.com) and get web hosting.
I recommend Lyrical Host for domain registration and blog hosting. Their services are great for beginners and pro bloggers alike. You can get started on this page and apply the promo code BLOG at checkout to get 10% off your bill!
If you aren’t sure how it all works and want to learn more about starting your own self-hosted WordPress website, you can follow my step-by-step guide. You’ll be ready to start publishing in no time!
I have also prepared this comprehensive tutorial for new bloggers and a free blogging checklist to go with it so that you have an easily accessible tool to grab as you build your blogging business.
Design and build
After following the advice above, you’ll be all set to work on your blog. Make it unique to you, and start publishing those articles!
While design and site structure are critical for SEO and user experience, content is king! I would advise against spending too long on design and build. You can grab a professional-looking WordPress theme and have your site ready within a few days.
Then, as your blog grows, you’ll build a community at your own pace and craft your own path. Don’t be afraid to pivot and take it one step at a time… enjoy the journey. 🙂
How to Monetize a Niche Blog?
While it is possible to make money in almost any niche, it is important to understand how bloggers make money in the first place.
The primary income streams of most successful bloggers are the following:
1. Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing entails the promotion of third-party products or services to drive sales to those companies or brands. When a reader buys through a referral link, the blogger is rewarded with a small percentage of the sale.
This is one of the most popular blog monetization strategies among bloggers in all niches and probably the easiest way to add a passive income stream to your blog from the very start.
Essentially, you’d be writing different types of posts and sharing your affiliate links within the content you produced.
To find affiliate programs that align with your niche, I recommend starting by listing potential products, services, and brands you could mention in your blog posts.
Then, visit their websites and look for an affiliate application form. It’s normally linked in the website’s footer.
Alternatively, Google “company name + affiliate program” and you’ll certainly find the information you need (unless there isn’t a program to join).
Another option is joining an affiliate marketing network, such as:
There are plenty of these out there, and once you get approved, you can explore their listings and submit your request to partner with some of the brands they work with.

2. Ads
Just as it sounds, this involves displaying adverts throughout your website in partnership with an ad network.
Some providers that you can look into include Google AdSense, Mediavine, Raptive (formerly known as AdThrive), She Media, and Monumetric, to name a few.
Believe it or not, many people earn well above the average pay rate of a full-time job by adding ads to their websites!
That being said, I am not the biggest fan of this strategy. I’d advise you to consider the user experience your readers have when navigating your blog and avoiding intrusive ad placements.
While I support the idea of using ads as an additional revenue source, overusing ads could ruin the user experience.
3. Selling Courses
Once a blogger is well established in a certain niche, the natural next step towards monetization is creating and selling their own online courses around their chosen topics.
Popular platforms to help you build, host, and deliver courses include:
- ThriveCart,
- Teachable, and
- Thinkific.
4. Selling Products or Services
Like courses, when bloggers have a certain skill set that allows them to create and sell their own products or services, they can easily do this directly from their websites.
While having a considerable amount of traffic and a loyal following helps boost sales, there’s no reason to wait if you have a good idea in mind.
To accept payments directly on your website and deliver digital products, I’d encourage you to look at cart solutions like:
- ThriveCart,
- SendOwl, or
- SureCart.
5. Sponsorships
Sponsorships, also referred to as brand collaborations, essentially refer to when a relationship is established between a brand or company and a blogger.
The blogger’s job is to promote that company, product, or service within their content.
Depending on the agreement, this could mean writing blog posts, sending out newsletters, or publishing on social media.
Either the brand contacts the blogger to be featured in a post, or the blogger proactively pitches to the brand.
For better chances of receiving a positive response to your pitches, you’d want to have significant stats that might be of interest to the companies you want to partner with.
This is why it is important to have an analytics tool connected to your website from the beginning so that you can track your progress and demonstrate your results.
Sponsorships are different from affiliate marketing in the sense that there’s normally a set fee, and the parties will agree on specific deliverables.
Choosing the Perfect Blog Niche: Key Takeaways
I hope this extensive list of more than 250 blog niche ideas has inspired you to get started!
Of course, this list isn’t exhaustive and there are plenty of other choices to explore. According to the Web Tribunal, there were more than 600 million blogs out of 1.9 billion websites in 2022.
As you can imagine, millions of writers blog about all kinds of topics. Still, I believe your best bet at standing out in the crowd is finding your unique space and focusing on a specific subject or target audience.
Also, as we’ve covered, there are plenty of monetization strategies to consider… But I do want to remind you that blogging isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme! It takes time and hard work.
You must commit to continuously growing your blog, stay focused, and serve your audience with regular, high-quality content.
Regardless of the blogging niche you choose, make sure that it’s something you’re passionate about and that you’re knowledgeable (or at least curious) about the topic to continue building on it and not let your blog fade over time.
Good luck, and happy blogging!
Thank you for the tips. I’m looking into starting my own blog. Your post was very helpful.
