Lyrical Host Review & Discount Code (Best Blog Hosting 2024)
If you’ve been following Blogging She Thrives for a while, you know I rave about my blog hosting company.
To add to a recent tutorial I published about how easy it is to start a self-hosted blog with Lyrical Host, I figured I would share a full Lyrical Host review as well.
Today, I will give you my honest opinion about the one I consider to be the best blog hosting company there is!
I have hosted several websites with them for almost 3 years at this point, and I honestly couldn’t be happier to have found them. I can’t imagine life in the digital space with any other host.
Why? Because I have tried a few…
As an affiliate of Lyrical Host, I will earn a small commission if you decide to use my links. Don’t worry, using my discount coupon will actually save you money and I would recommend them anyway! Here’s my full disclosure.
Before finding this hidden gem, I had a couple of blogs: a lifestyle blog and a houseplant care one.
While I did have other blogs in the past (in the travel niche, arts and crafts, and a personal journal), those were on free platforms and never went too far. I was young and didn’t know any better!
As for the blogs I started on WordPress.org, I initially had them on SiteGround and DreamHost and eventually moved into NameHero and then Lyrical Host. Yup, I like to try new things!
Spoiler alert: as soon as I got introduced to Lyrical Host, it was love at first sight, and once I settled in with them, I never looked back.
Check out Lyrical’s hosting services at lyricalhost.com. If you feel the connection like I did, I’ve got a special discount code for you! Type BLOG at checkout to get 10% off any plan.

What is Lyrical Host?
Lyrical Host is a UK-based hosting company designed to meet every blogger’s needs.
They are an independent small business, and unlike most competitors, they offer transparent pricing and honest services with no upsells or hidden fees.
In their own words:
“We offer premium managed hosting without the usual premium managed hosting price tag.
Our mission is to make WordPress blogging and website ownership easy, affordable, and hassle-free. We take as much off your plate as possible so you can spend more time doing the things you love. We migrate websites and email for free, even from Blogger and WordPress.com.
We speak your language – we specialize in hosting for bloggers, so we’re in a position to advise on tools, plugins, structuring blogs, and even things like content marketing, SEO, and media kits.
All of our hosting plans include all the features and services you need: SSL certificates, email addresses, automatic daily backups, and one-to-one support. Our hosting is optimized for WordPress, and it comes preinstalled along with our bespoke caching plugin for even better page speeds. Every month, we send out exclusive stock photos and design/blogging resources to help you take your website to the next level.”
Who founded Lyrical Host?
The company was founded and is still run by Jenni Brown and Joseph Tansley.
Jenni is a blogger with a professional background in the web hosting industry and specializes in SEO, email marketing, copywriting, and social media.
Joseph is a web developer with a thorough understanding of WordPress and IT.
The best part? You’ll find them online every day, supporting and inspiring you to grow your blogging business!
They both have strong values that they apply to the business, which is beautiful to witness. For example:
- they always give Christmas off to the entire team, so they are the only ones working that day;
- everybody gets 30 days of paid leave, 5 personal days, and 1 extra day they can choose (for example, if their favorite video game is coming out).
What is blog hosting, and why do you need it?
Blog Hosting (or Web Hosting) is a service that hosts all of your website files and data, making it possible for your blog to appear on the internet.
Without such a service, your website wouldn’t be accessible online.
Essentially, a web host is like the piece of land you need if you want to build a house. Even if you had all the materials and builders available, you couldn’t build a house without a plot.
Whenever people tell you that you need to go “self-hosted” this is what they are referring to. You need to find a website hosting company to host your site and everything it needs.
Platforms like Blogger or WordPress.com, offer all-inclusive free and premium plans, but you never have full control. And the worst: you don’t OWN your blog. If those platforms shut down, so will your business…
On the other hand, WordPress sites on the self-hosted WordPress.org CMS are fully owned by their publishers, meaning those can be monetized, migrated, and transformed however they please.
Sharing is caring! 🙂 Hoover to pin…

Lyrical Host Review: Home for life, probably!
Besides the technical benefits of hosting your WordPress blog with Lyrical Host, what truly stands out to me is their integrity and spirit.
They are real people with great values!
Lyrical Host: Pricing
Lyrical Host offers three affordable hosting plans for WordPress websites.
Each of these includes free migration of website(s) and email(s), access to their easy-to-use control panel, speed and security features, training, free resources, and so much more…
Here’s an overview of each hosting option you’ll find at Lyrical Host:
Tiny Plan
- This is perfect for 1 WordPress website!
- 1 Month (pay monthly) – $19.28 per month
- 6 Months (pay semi-annually and get 1 month free) – $104.05 every 6 months (saves 10%)
- 12 Months (pay annually and get 2 months free) – $196.66 every year (saves 15%)
- 24 Months (pay biennially and get 4 months free) – $393.25 every 2 years (saves 17%)
Mighty Plan
- On this plan, you can have up to 3 WordPress websites.
- 1 Month (pay monthly) – $30.31 per month
- 6 Months (pay semi-annually and get 1 month free) – $163.98 every 6 months (saves 10%)
- 12 Months (pay annually and get 2 months free) – $308.75 every year (saves 15%)
- 24 Months (pay biennially and get 4 months free) – $603.52 every 2 years (saves 17%)
Boss Plan
- The larger plan lets you host up to 38 WordPress websites. This is the one I am currently at, but I have used them all and simply upgraded as needed!
- 1 Month (pay monthly) – $41.33 per month
- 6 Months (pay semi-annually and get 1 month free) – $223.24 every 6 months (saves 10%)
- 12 Months (pay annually and get 2 months free) – $421.78 every year (saves 15%)
- 24 Months (pay biennially and get 4 months free) – $822.61 every 2 years (saves 17%)
Lyrical Host Discount Code: BLOG
In addition to the above bulk discounts, when you apply the coupon code BLOG, you’ll get an extra 10% off on your first invoice, regardless of the plan or cycle you choose.
So if you go with the Tiny Plan for one year, for example, which is what I did initially, you’ll be saving a total of 25%.
Is Lyrical Host worth the investment?
Now, you may ask, how am I saying this is “affordable” when other hosts charge $5 per month or less?
Well, usually, that’s only what they say on their homepage.
When you begin the checkout process, they’ll start throwing suggestions of things you may need… These are features that should be included as standard, as well as some unnecessary add-ons.
The problem is… will the average blogger understand what’s needed and what’s not?
And also, what will your rate be when it’s time to renew?
What about when they increase their pricing – which is bound to happen at one point or another?
With Lyrical Host, I sleep better at night because I know this is the price I will pay, FOREVER! There are no hikes or sudden upsells. Everything I need is included and support has NEVER asked for more even when some of my sites had issues.
Lyrical Host Alternatives
Other premium hosts offering a comparable, high-quality service include:
- BigScoots on the Managed WordPress plan, which starts at $31.46 per month if paid yearly (check it out here)
- Kinsta on the WordPress plan, which starts at $35 per month if paid yearly – but caps you at 25,000 monthly visits (check it out here)
- WPX on the WordPress plan, which starts at $20.83 per month if paid yearly (check it out here)
- Flywheel on the Managed WordPress plan, which offers a $25 per month if paid yearly – but caps you at 25,000 monthly visits (check it out here)
As you see, Lyrical Host offers reasonable pricing. To me, nothing pays for the hours and tears I had to go through with those so-called “cheap” hosts.
In any case, if I was starting from scratch and really couldn’t afford to pay $19.28 per month (which, by the way, I can understand!), I would probably choose one of these:
- Hostinger offers various hosting options starting at only $2.49 per month (and $7.99 upon renewal). Yet, I’d likely go with the next tier at $3.69 per month (and $8.99 upon renewal) for the enhanced features at a similar price point.
- A2 Hosting with a shared hosting plan starting at $2.99 per month (for the first billing period) or a managed hosting plan starting at $11.99 monthly (also for the first billing period only).

Lyrical Host: Benefits and Bonuses
Premium managed hosting without the premium price tag
I won’t get too much into tech in this review because you can find everything you need on their homepage at https://lyricalhost.com/, and to get all the nitty-gritty, you can also check out their Platforms and Technologies page.
I often come across reviews listing all the features of a product or service without giving you an impression of the author’s opinion and experience. So, I wanted this to be slightly different!
When looking for feedback, I wanted to get people’s perspectives rather than find the same information I could read on the company’s website.
So, after nearly three years as a Lyrical Host customer, that’s precisely what I am giving you today.
To take this out of the way, here are the key features of Lyrical Host’s WordPress plans:
- SSD webspace powered by Samsung SSDs;
- High monthly bandwidth (they’ll never turn off your website if you go over your plan’s limit!);
- Email accounts up to 10GB per inbox (up to 6 addresses on the Tiny plan and an unlimited number on the Mighty and Boss plans);
- Free staging environment (plus, it’s so easy to use!);
- WordPress Multisite (I have made use of this feature for 2 sites! This isn’t often included with other hosts);
- Unlimited subdomains (and free SSL Certificates are always included and renewed automatically);
- Free website and email migration from other hosts or platforms;
- Built-in caching (which will save you at least $59 a year – based on the price of my recommended caching plugin for bloggers, if you go with other hosting providers) and free CDN with nodes worldwide;
- Automatic backups are saved daily on separate servers. This means that even if their hosting servers crash for some reason, your files and database will be secure elsewhere!
Best support in the web hosting industry
Tailored support with no pre-written scripts is the number one reason I recommend Lyrical Host to any blogger who’ll listen.
Coming from the hospitality industry, customer service has always been a priority for me.
(Yup, I’ve done many things in life, including Event Planning in various countries and several 5-star hotel chains around the globe! 🙂)
I simply cannot stand it when I don’t get the answer I need to solve an issue with tech.
Or when the answer is so unhelpful that it makes me wonder why “support” is even mentioned in that person’s job description… It’s so annoying when tech people talk like you should understand their language. Or, even worse, when they make you feel stupid!
Even though I build websites for clients now, I don’t have a lifetime of tech experience. While I might be lucky to be a step ahead of most bloggers when it comes to navigating WordPress, I am not a developer. (I’m not bragging… I am only saying this because I actually studied WordPress and got a Master’s Degree in Digital Marketing and Web Design.)
In any case, although I generally understand the things that need to get done, I don’t speak code!
So, I truly appreciate Lyrical Host’s support team.
Among other things, here’s what they’ll do for you if you ask them:
- website and email migrations (even if you’re moving from Blogger or WordPress.com into your first self-hosted WordPress.org blog);
- theme installations and small tweaks;
- malware scans;
- install the Google Analytics code;
- free website speed analysis;
- resolve technical issues;
- suggest and set up plugins for you.
You can be as hand-off as you feel like or take it as a learning opportunity.
When I moved in with Lyrical Host, they suggested that I use Wordfence.
Although this is indeed the most recommended security plugin on WordPress, I had studied a different one in school.
But besides setting it all up for one of my blogs, Gareth (from Lyrical Host Support) put together a whole guide with screenshots and explanations of each step so I could follow the same process on any other website.
I still follow that guide today!
Free resources library
Lyrical Host partners with independent creators to offer us beautiful resources.
They work with actual photographers, designers, and illustrators every month. People just like you and me, trying to make a living online!
Here’s what they have to say about it:
“It’s a win-win; we help support others in the web industry and our customers at the same time.”
Lyrical Host
Free stock photos delivered to your inbox every month
At the beginning of each month, Jenni pops into my inbox to share entire collections of exclusive stock photos that can be used anywhere.
She usually shares the latest news as well, and sends links to relevant blog posts they published.
Courses for Bloggers
If you visit their Lyrical Courses website, you’ll find all the programs that Lyrical Host has put together for us.
These are available to anyone, but existing customers will get the Speed Boost course for free.
Both Speed Boost and Navigating SEO are massive and offer the best value for money.
I have taken MANY blogging courses over the years, but these two remain among my top picks!
Even if you choose to go with another host, I highly recommend checking these out. They include hundreds of detailed, written lessons, worksheets, and other downloadable bonuses.
The Lyrical Host Family
The Lyrical Host Blog & Business Squad group on Facebook is gold too!
It’s full of people just like us (bloggers, creative entrepreneurs, and small business owners), all ready to help and to inspire one another.
When you join, you also get access to monthly residences for bloggers, usually offered by fellow Lyrical Host customers. These vary every month and cover all types of subjects, from Pinterest Marketing to Mental Health.
Environment Impact
Every year, Lyrical Host plants thousands of trees to celebrate each hosting plan’s anniversary.
They call this program “anniversatree” and run it through Trees for the Future.
Here’s how it works:
- First year = 5 trees planted
- Second = 10 trees planted
- Third = 20 trees planted
- Fourth = 30 trees planted
- Fifth and beyond = 50 trees planted
Not only does this help offset carbon emissions produced by your website, but it also helps towards ending poverty and hunger for small farmers.
Trees For The Future plants fast-growing trees, fruit trees, hardwoods, and food crops to provide families with sustainable food sources, livestock feed, products to sell, wood fuel, and a 400% increase in their annual income in four years.
Social Causes
Each month, part of your hosting cost goes directly to non-profits and charities all over the world.
And since this is all thanks to you, they do often ask their customers for feedback or suggestions on new charities to support!
Affiliate Program
As soon as you become a Lyrical Host customer, you can start promoting their services to your blog’s visitors.
Affiliate Marketing is my favorite way of monetizing my blog, and there are plenty of creative strategies you can implement, regardless of your niche. I personally think the key to being successful as an affiliate is to offer value and always be helpful.
As a Lyrical Host affiliate, you can create a unique referral link to share with your readers, as well as a 10% discount code that new users can apply to any hosting plan.
The affiliate cookie lasts for 90 days, and you will receive credit for anyone who signs up via your link or uses your coupon.
And you don’t need to blog about blogging to do that! Bloggers in all niches promote Lyrical Host!
In the Affiliate Resources Center, you’ll find all the information and training you need to do the same, including:
- An overview of affiliate marketing;
- All the details you need and writing prompts to promote the program effectively;
- Instructions for including affiliate links in your blog;
- Ready-to-use affiliate disclosures, and more!
So, even if you are new to Affiliate Marketing, you can get an overall understanding of what it is and how to implement it in no time!
A few examples of strategies you could use (even if you don’t blog about blogging) include:
- Adding the Lyrical Host logo to your website’s footer or simply mentioning “Hosted by” as part of your site credits;
- Inserting a clickable image with your unique promo code on your blog’s sidebar; or
- Creating a “Recommendations” page to share this and any other services you use to run your blog.
You can still apply to become a Lyrical Host partner even if you aren’t a paying customer. However, I do think speaking from experience often delivers the best results.
Although Lyrical Host offers lower incentives than the industry standard, you can earn between $20 and $80 for each new customer that you refer.
My favorite part is that you can use those credits to pay for your own hosting plan, domain name renewal, or any other services they offer, such as Lyrical Courses or occasional workshops.
When you choose to add the affiliate credit to your account as an alternative to receiving a direct payout, they’ll even offer you an additional 10%.
I am currently on a yearly payment and whenever it’s time to renew, I always use my affiliate credit to help pay the bill.
That, alongside the rolling discount that is offered for advanced payments, makes it a lot easier to support the costs of running a blog.

The Pros & Cons of Lyrical Host
To me, Lyrical Host’s pros outweigh the cons by far! If you have read the above, you already know I highly recommend them to both beginners and advanced WordPress users.
However, my review wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t include some pitfalls too.
I can honestly say it’s been a challenge to think of anything negative worth mentioning… But here you have it, my pros and cons shortlist:
Pros
✅ Customer support (out of this world!)
This is by far the best customer service experience I’ve had with any web host, and one of the main reasons why I have no plans of moving any time soon.
The technical support makes Lyrical Host the best hosting provider I’ve tried!
✅ Monthly Payments
Another perk I must highlight is the possibility of paying monthly!
You do have benefits for paying long-term, but you can choose to go month-by-month if that suits you best.
You can also switch to a different billing cycle whenever you need. I have done it several times myself, and it has never been an issue for the team to apply the necessary changes to my account.
✅ Resources
Lyrical Host’s resource library has been bookmarked on my browser since the early days. It’s gold!
I love that they keep adding to it and I always find inspiration, great advice, and useful resources there.
Mainly tailored to bloggers, the resources include social media templates, e-books, spreadsheets, stock photos, blog post ideas, and more!
✅ Friendly Facebook Group
The Lyrical Host Blog & Business Squad group on Facebook is yet another source of inspiration for me.
It is run by Jenni and Paula Hickey from paulasextonhickey.com and has an active community of bloggers and creative business owners.
The group is extremely active and everyone is ready to share advice and personal stories. Besides business and blogging tips, you’ll often come across pictures of people’s office spaces or even their pets!
I really have fun hanging out there and connecting with people from all over the world. I am sure you will too!
Cons
❌ Domain names aren’t included
It is no secret that most other hosts include a domain name with their hosting plans at no additional cost.
However, it is worth noting that domain names usually sell for less than $20 per year, so the extra cost isn’t huge.
If you are considering Lyrical Host, this shouldn’t be the reason to go elsewhere.
When you look at the alternatives, also check for other hidden fees, and be aware that domain names tend to be included for the first year only. I don’t think you’d be saving much by going a different route.
❌ No live chat support
When I was with other hosts in the past, I got used to chatting live with support. Even though I have learned to like the ticketing system that Lyrical’s support team uses, I must say this was one of the reasons I was doubtful of moving in at first.
The tech support at Lyrical Host is handled from the hub, where you can send written messages, and assign a priority level to each request.
The team is usually fast to respond, but when you first submit a support ticket, you can’t see if anyone is online, or even how long it might take to get a reply. On rare occasions, I have waited several hours without a clue of when I’d get a response.
❌ Flatlay stock photo packs
Among other products available on the website, Lyrical Host offers stock photography packs that can be purchased by anyone.
While I’ve heard that these will be updated this year, and therefore my opinion might change, I have to list these in this “cons” section for now.
The current offerings aren’t my style at all, so although I like to support the companies I use and love, I have never been interested in purchasing them.
I was pleased to know that the photos come with a commercial license and can be used on your website as well as client projects. It isn’t uncommon for stock photography membership sites to limit the use of the photos to you only. So the ability to use these for client work sounded great!
However, the photography style feels outdated and unattractive to me. You can find them here.
In any case, this goes way beyond what any other hosts offer. So it comes as proof that Lyrical Host really does care about their customers and helping bloggers grow.
❌ Low affiliate commission
It is no secret that most web hosts offer high affiliate commissions. It isn’t the case with Lyrical Host!
Although I’m listing this as a “con”, since we’re all looking to increase our income, I must say that I don’t think their affiliate program is unreasonable.
In my opinion, any blogger can benefit from earning some passive income by sharing the products and services they love.
Whether that’s done through direct or indirect promotional methods, the potential of getting credit to pay for your own Lyrical hosting subscription costs is a great perk.

So, do I think Lyrical Host is the best web hosting service for bloggers?
Absolutely!
Lyrical Host offers the best hosting service and all the features most of us need. Switching all of my websites to them was the best decision I made back in 2021!
I do believe that both content creators and small businesses will be in the best hands with them. 🙂
Don’t forget to apply my 10% coupon at checkout if you are going to give Lyrical Host a try. Simply type BLOG under “Apply Code” during the checkout process.
They do offer a 30-day money-back guarantee too, so there’s absolutely nothing to lose. They want you to stay, but they won’t make you stay…
