There are a myriad of travel niches to choose from, and therefore, there are unlimited blog post ideas to explore. 

However, I have compiled a list of more than 100 blog post ideas for the travel blogging niche in general so that you can take them and tweak them to your own blog’s focus. I went ahead and divided these ideas into 3 main categories:

• Travel Articles & General Travel Advice – articles about the places that you visit and also things that aren’t related to a particular destination or activity, but that can be helpful, offer valuable insights and travel inspiration to all of your readers;
• Living Abroad – tips for expats and people considering a move;
• Promoting Products and Services – commercial intent travel blog topic ideas (great for boosting your affiliate revenue, but usually more competitive).

Please know that although there’s a list of commercial intent ideas alone, any other posts can be tweaked for monetization, too. You can use affiliate links, partner with relevant companies, embed ads, and more.

Starting a travel website

You’re all set with excellent content ideas for the next months! But if you haven’t built your website yet, now is the time to do it.

I have a full tutorial that you can follow to start your own travel blog, but here’s an overview of the steps I recommend beginning with:

1. Choose your niche

While you already know that you want to start a travel blog, you should narrow down that niche by choosing a specific type of travel, a specific destination to cover, or a target audience to talk to. This will help you stand out faster!

Some examples of travel blogging niches include RV travel, camping, female solo travel, backpacking in Southeast Asia, travel for retirees, and more.

2. Set up your platform

Choosing the right platform is key if you want to make money blogging. WordPress.org is the leader in blogging and allows you to create any type of website and add the functionality you need.

First, you want to register a domain name (for example, bloggingshethrives.com) and choose a hosting plan.

3. Set up your website

The next step is setting up the website and branding. This is the fun part! 

You can design your site using a free theme from the WordPress library or choose a premium design that will make it easier to build and make it look professional from the start. 

A good WordPress theme provides structure to your website, enhances your users’ experience, and helps your visitors navigate the site while helping you rank higher in search results.

Once you’re done, it’s all about producing helpful content regularly and building a brand that people want to return to. 

Blogging isn’t easy. It takes time and effort. But with the right mindset, you’ll love every minute of it!
